Office desks for teams: individual, bench, workstations or L-shaped
This guide compares individual desks, benches, 4 or 6-seat stations and L-shaped desks, with measurements, dividers, electrification and the Dunati series.
By Leonardo Bianchi, CEO at Dunati

For an open space, the four-seat front station with central divider and shared electrical tray performs best: it organizes cables, provides visual privacy and takes up less surface area than four loose desks with their aisles. The individual desk and the L-shaped desk are for management, customer service or positions with a lot of paper. At Dunati, the Versa and Arko series cover all equipment formats, from 2 to 6 positions, and the Lift series adds the elevating position.
What desktop formats are there for computers?
The measurements are those of the Versa and Arko series, which share formats.
| Format | Positions | Total measurements | When is it appropriate | What to care for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Straight single | 1 | 100 to 200 cm long, depth 60 or 70 cm | Headquarters, closed offices, public attention | Occupies more circulation per position |
| En L | 1 | 140 to 180 cm front, 150 or 160 cm total depth | Two screens, plans, seated attention | Need more room depth |
| Lateral group | 2, 3 or 4 in a row | From 200 to 720 cm long, depth 60 or 70 cm | Placed against a wall or window | People have their backs to the hallway |
| Front group of 2 (bench) | 2 faced | 100 a 180 × 121 o 141 cm | Small teams, focus islands | Center divider to cut eye contact |
| Front group of 4 | 4 (2 × 2) | 200 a 360 × 121 o 141 cm | The base configuration of the open space | Shared electrification to the center |
| Front group of 6 | 6 (3 × 2) | 300 a 540 × 121 o 141 cm | Maximum density in large equipment | Convenient access to middle positions |
| Clover (Versa only) | 3 | One 110 × 121 cm module (code VEG110110-3T) | Corners and small equipment | A single format, without length variations |

The rows of stations are lengthened with succession kits, which add positions sharing a structure.
What measures to choose for each position?
- Long: 120 cm is the usual operating position; 140 to 160 cm, if the person works with two screens; 180 to 200 cm, for management or plans.
- Background: 60 cm is enough for a screen and keyboard; 70 cm leaves space for two screens or documents.
- High: 75 cm on all fixed desks. The Lift is adjustable between 65 and 125 cm.
At a station, each station is measured the same as a loose desk: four 120 × 60 cm stations form a 240 × 121 cm station; with 70 cm depth, 240 × 141 cm.
What are dividers between posts for?
To cut visual contact between facing screens and reduce the noise from the next booth a little. There are two types in the catalog:
- dull glass, 28 cm high above the cover and lengths from 56 to 176 cm, with single or double support. Maintains the feeling of spaciousness.
- felt panel12 mm pressed, 120 × 31 cm. Absorbs some of the nearby noise.
None replaces a room or a call booth. If the team spends the day on video calls, the divider helps little: what it solves is having somewhere to isolate.
How do you electrify a workstation?
From the simplest to the most complete:
- Cable gland coveron the cover, with two or three modules, or with double opening for two or three sockets.
- electric trayunder the cover, 33 to 132 cm long, which hides cables and transformers.
- Cable gland vertebra, which lowers the cables neatly from the deck to the floor.
- Dockingin the Lift series, metallic or melamine: a structure for the electrification of the desk.
Dunati connects the electrification of the furniture to the points left by the construction company; does not do electrical installations. The expensive mistake is deciding on electrification at the end: the position of the floor sockets defines where the cover is drilled, and changing it later costs more than doing it right on the plan.
What Dunati series are there for operations and management?
| Series | Structure | Measures | So that |
|---|---|---|---|
| Versa | 1.5 mm steel triangular profile with electrostatic painting | Straight from 100 to 200 cm, L-shaped, returns, side and front groups, cloverleaf and meeting tables | The most complete operational series for open space |
| Arko | 40mm square profile, 1.5mm steel | The same Versa formats, except the cloverleaf and the round tables | Same function with a structure of straight lines |
| Lift | Two motors and three stages, four height memories, 125 kg load, 2 mm steel | 140 to 200 cm long, depth 70 or 90 cm, height 65 to 125 cm | Liftable seats, with optional credenza and docking |
| Prisma | Extruded aluminum prismoidal profile | Uprights and fronts from 120 to 200 cm, depths from 60 to 90 cm, and meeting tables | Posts and headquarters with aluminum structure |
| Diamond | Triangular profile in anodized aluminum and chrome joints | Straight from 140 to 200 cm with a depth of 80 or 90 cm; in L of 160 and 180 cm | Headquarters and management |
| Legacy | 8mm folded steel plate | Straight from 160 to 200 × 90 cm; with credenza from 180 to 220 cm | Management, with laminate or veneer cover |
| Arista | 5mm chrome steel | Straight 180 and 200 × 90 cm | Management and board, with laminate or wood veneer |

All have a 25 mm MDF cover with high pressure laminate; Legacy and Arista, also in wood veneer. In the same project, Versa or Arko operatives coexist in the open space and a managerial series in the closed offices; If the laminate is repeated, the office is read as a whole.
When to upgrade to a custom desk?
When the floor plan has columns, curved walls or a corner that a catalog format leaves lost; when an off-menu laminate is needed, or when the stand fulfills a special function, such as a service desk or checkpoint. Since the covers are manufactured in Chile and the metal structures are imported, what is adapted is the cover: the structure is chosen from the series.
How long does a workstation take?
As a reference, line laminate desks are manufactured within 10 business days, counted from the payment of the advance. A project of about 20 positions with line laminates and structures in stock starts in 10 business days of manufacturing plus about 1 day of installation in the Metropolitan Region. Special colors and wood veneers lengthen the delivery time, and shipping to regions adds business days. The firm term is included in each quote.
What makes the price of a workstation vary?
The number of seats, the length and depth of each cover, the series, the dividers, the electrification, the drawers and the installation. A four-station does not cost four times as much as an individual desk, because it shares a structure. That is why sales to companies are by quote, by project.
How do you plan an office with workstations?
With the floor plan, Dunati proposes the layout in 3D: how many stations can fit, where the corridors go and how each island is electrified, before manufacturing. If you have an architect, he can work with the DWG blocks and 3D models of each series. To test the structures, the showroom at Av. Vitacura 6577, Vitacura, Santiago, has Versa and Arko bases and a Lift pedestal desk on display. Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with parking; The visit can be coordinated by WhatsApp at +56 9 8583 5709.
What workstation is best for an open space?
The four-seater front with divider and shared electric tray. For large teams, six.
How much space does each position need?
More than the cover: you have to add the chair, the space to remove it and the corridors, and the surface area per person of the entire office is greater because it includes rooms and services. The practical thing is to start from the plan: in the 3D proposal you can see how many stalls can fit without narrowing circulation.
Is an L-shaped desk better than a straight one?
It gives more surface area on the same front, but requires more room depth. Serves for two screens or seated attention; In a dense open space, the straight line in station performs better.
Can fixed and elevating desks be mixed?
Yes, on the same floor: the Lift is an individual desk, so it goes as its own station next to the Versa or Arko stations, with the same laminate cover.
Do dividers reduce noise?
The felt one absorbs some of the nearby noise and both cut eye contact. They do not replace a room or a call booth.
What warranty do the desks have?
5 years on desks, stations, tables and storage.
How long does a workstation take?
From 10 business days in line laminations, counted from the payment of the advance. The firm term is in the quote.
