How much space each person takes
A comfortable workstation starts at 1.20 m wide by 60 cm deep. Below that the monitor sits on top of you and there is nowhere to put anything. With two screens or paperwork, add depth before width.
Individual or group workstation
Group benches share a frame across two, four or six positions: they use the floor area better and tidy the cabling. Individual desks make sense when positions are separate or for management offices.
Where the cable will run
The most forgotten detail and the worst looking afterwards. Trays and cable ports are defined before manufacturing, based on where the office sockets are.
If people will stand part of the day
Electric height-adjustable desks let you alternate between sitting and standing. They cost more per position, so it is worth deciding which ones need it.
