Hybrid office: shared positions, lockers and personal storage
A hybrid office needs one locker per person who comes often; This guide explains where to place them and what to do with drawers and shared files.
By Leonardo Bianchi, CEO at Dunati

In a hybrid office with shared workstations, personal storage has to leave the desk and go to a locker. The rule that works best is one locker for each person who comes regularly, located between the entrance and the stations, and shared desks without drawers. Lockers are counted by people and not by positions, so there is almost always a need for more lockers than desks.
What changes in storage when seats are shared?
In a traditional office, each person has their desk and their drawer with their things. With shared positions that is broken: today's position is not tomorrow's, and the drawer under the desk is left with someone else's things. Four things change:
- The personal save is separated from the positionand goes to lockers, in its own area.
- The post is clean at the end of the day: without drawers, the cover is left empty.
- The file becomes the team's, in shared libraries and credenzas.
- Storage becomes part of the plant: Lockers and tall libraries mark the boundary between zones.
How many lockers do you need?
There is no universal figure, but there is a way to count:
- One per person with regular attendance(two or more days a week), even if you don't come every day. The locker stores what you don't want to take and bring.
- An unassigned groupfor visits and occasional assistance, which is used and emptied the same day.
- Wardrobe lockersfor coats, helmets and large bags, depending on how many people arrive by bicycle or motorcycle.
- Room to grow: Adding a body of lockers later is simple if the wall was left free on the floor.
Peak hour occupancy in a normal week gives the number of shared positions; people with regular attendance give the number of lockers. They are two different figures, and the typical mistake is to buy lockers with the first one.
What lockers does Dunati have?
The Access series lockers are manufactured in Chile in 18 mm melamine, with 18 mm MDF fronts in high pressure laminate:
| Model | Measurements (length × depth × height) | What is it for? |
|---|---|---|
| Locker 1 body, 3 doors | 40 × 40 × 119,7 cm | Larger lockers, at a comfortable height |
| Locker 1 body, 5 doors | 40 × 40 × 197 cm | Maximum number of lockers per meter of wall |
| Wardrobe locker, 1 door | 40 × 40 × 119,7 cm | Coats, helmets and large bags |
| Locker terminal bench 121 | 121 × 42 × 75 cm, 6 doors | Completion of a row of shared positions, with support cover |
| Locker terminal bench 141 | 141 × 42 × 75 cm, 6 doors | The same, in a longer length |

The 40 cm bodies are placed next to each other until they cover the wall. Combining 3 and 5 doors in the same row gives lockers of two sizes, which is what a real team asks for: not everyone keeps the same thing. Los terminales de 121 y 141 cm coinciden con las dos profundidades de los grupos frontales de escritorios Versa y Arko (121 y 141 cm), así que rematan la fila sin sobresalir. The full category is instorage.
Where to locate the lockers?
- On the path between the entrance and the stalls, so that leaving your bag is a natural step and not a detour.
- Far from concentration positions: Opening and closing doors makes noise all morning.
- As a boundary between zones: a 197 cm row of lockers separates the arrival from the work area and cuts off the direct view.
- With a terminal bench at the end of each rowof shared positions, for the computer and charger for the day, without going to the big locker.
- With free space in frontto open the door while someone passes behind. It is the first thing that is lost when the plant is rushed.
What about the drawers?
They don't go to shared positions. A chest of drawers without an owner is the first piece of furniture that is filled with nobody's things. In the permanent positions that remain (private offices, reception, teams that come every day), yes:

Access libraries come open, with laminate or glass doors, and semi-closed in the tall version. The practical criterion: what is used daily is at hand height, in credenzas and low bookcases; which is little consulted, upstairs or in a cellar.
What warranty does the storage have?
5 years, the same as desks, tables and receptions, in addition to the legal guarantee of law 19,496. If something goes wrong, write to info@dunati.com with the order number and a photo; The technicians validate the case and an executive confirms the procedure.
How do you plan storage in a hybrid office?
On the same floor as the stalls, from the beginning. Dunati's plan and 3D proposal places the lockers, terminals and libraries along with the shared stations, and shows how many bodies can fit on each wall before manufacturing. In projects, Dunati can make a technical visit to rectify the measurements on the ground before moving on to manufacturing, which is exactly where a locker wall takes its last centimeter.
